Frequently Asked Questions

Colon Hydrotherapy is also known as:

A Colonic, Colonic Irrigation or a Colon Cleanse

What is a Colonic?

A safe effective method for cleansing the colon of waste material by gentle flushing with warm filtered water.

Why have a Colonic?

The colonic will help get rid of built up waste (fecal matter) gas and bloating.

What is the difference between colon hydrotherapy, enemas and laxatives?

Colon hydrotherapy is designed to cleanse, hydrate, and retone the entire length of the large intestine (approx 5 to 6 feet).

Whereas an enema only reaches the lower part of the colon or about 1 foot. Laxatives generally contain drugs and chemicals that irritate the colon walls and are known for dehydrating the bowel instead of hydrating the system as with colon hydrotherapy.

Does colon hydrotherapy hurt?

Most people describe their colon hydrotherapy session as being relaxing. The insertion of the speculum is described as the most uncomfortable part only because most people are a bit embarrassed it only takes about five seconds and is not painful. It is normal to have some discomfort during the colonic usually more like a mild cramping or an urge to go to the bathroom.

How long does a colonic session take?

The colonic session is approximately 45 - 50 minutes, but allow 1 hour.

If it is your first appointment please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out some paperwork .

How many colonic sessions will I need?

Each client is different based on their cleansing needs, some people just want to try it to see how they feel and others want to do a series of colonics.

What should I do to prepare for a colonic?

  • No eating or drinking for 2 hours before your session

  • At least 1 to 2 days prior to your colonic TRY to avoid the following

  • Avoid carbonated beverages

  • Avoid alcohol

  • Avoid red meat

  • Avoid processed , fried and fatty foods

  • Avoid foods with white flour (pastas , breads, pastries etc)

  • Avoid foods that you know normally cause gas

  • Avoid chewing gum and drinking out of a straw

Things to DO prior to a colonic at least 1-2 days

  • Drink plenty of water 1/2 your body weight in ounces (Example if you weigh 140 lbs drink 70 ounces of water per day throughout the day)

  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (Organic if possible) the greener the better

  • Take probiotics

Can I get a colonic during my menstrual period?

Absolutely. In fact getting a colonic during your menstrual cycle is usually a good time to receive a treatment since your body is already cleansing. Your period will not interfere with the treatment.

Can I go to work directly after a colon hydrotherapy session?

Absolutely. It is possible that you may need to use the bathroom more so just make note of that.
